Join us for our homecoming game against the Richmond Wolverines at GRHS this Saturday!
1. Fifteen minutes prior to the start of every scheduled game that team’s players, cheer girls, and coaches should be with their family members and organized in an straight line and ‘ready to go’ when announced. Flag lined-up at 7:45am / Freshmen lined-up at 9:15am / Sophomores lined-up at 10:45am / Juniors lined-up at 12:45pm / Seniors lined-up at 2:45pm
2. The line-up should occur in order of the players’ jersey numbers from lowest to highest.
3. For cheer girls that don’t have a brother on the team they should go to the front of the line and those cheer girls should be in alphabetical order based on their last name.
4. For cheer girls that do have have a brother on the team they should join their brother and walk together.
5. As the straight line is first being formed it should occur near the field house. Please keep an eye to help avoid the boys walking on the track in their football cleats.
6. When players and cheer girls are announced they should walk with their family members to the center of the field and remain in a straight line. Although it is only the players’ and cheer girls’ names that will be announced all family members including relatives are welcome to walk with them. We only announce the boys and girls names for the sake of time so that we can get through each level in 15-20 minutes.
7. Once all players and cheer girls are announced and the families have walked with them onto the field the king and queen will be announced.
8. Mr. Timberlake has volunteered to take some photos at the flag through junior levels for our website however we won’t hold-up the start of games if taking photos on the field is causing a delay. If anyone wants to volunteer to take photos at the senior level please contact Lynette Kuznar or me.
9. A festivity tent will be set-up for kids (face painting, hair color, etc.). Thanks in advance to some of the older siblings for their help at the tent.
10. Announcers will recognize Packers alumni in the crowd. Note – As normal, I will have the announcers game day notes/guide in the press box. It’s important that the game day announcers follow the guide so that important announcements are made and so that our sponsors are acknowledged. On the subject of announcers, and just to be clear, they should be with their families during the homecoming walk and then come to the booth afterwards. I will announce the players and cheer girls at each level so the announcers can ‘take the walk’.
11. Saltgrass Steakhouse, who has been a great sponsor for the Packers for a number of years now, has donated gift cards and random names will be drawn from the list of people who previously signed the Packers parent pledge – along with people who have served as volunteers throughout our season.
12. For families making/hanging signs & posters please take them with you when you leave. Please don’t leave them for others to clean-up at the end of the day.
13. Comcast will be present and available to offer deals for people to sign-up for their services. It will not be ‘hard sales’ but rather available
for people who want to inquire and possibly sign-up. The Packers will receive a nominal donation from Comcast for anyone who signs-up ($20 per sign-up).
14. At Thursday night’s practice some of the cheer girls will be decorating their parent’s car with Packers colors. Others are welcome to join in. Winning car gets a Saltgrass gift card.
15. Last note for now – There is always an opportunity for more volunteers to pitch-in than what takes place. I appreciate all the people who pitch-in to help although there’s always a need for more throughout the day and if anyone is willing who is not already on the list to volunteer, this Saturday would be a good day to offer your help – particularly at clean-up/tear-down time. Help at the merchandise table throughout the day is also needed. Please see James Burger. myself, Lynette Kuznar, or one of the team moms to hear how you can help. Thanks in advance for considering – and thanks again to those who are always helping.
